Maria’s Journey "Loving Family Comes Along For The Ride"
As chance would have it, in January 2010, I had read Suzanne Somers’ book “Knockout”, a series of interviews with doctors all over the country who are dealing with cancer in innovative ways. When Mom was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor, I gave the book to Barbara. We were very impressed with the work of Dr. James Forsythe. We liked that he is a board certified oncologist and internist as well as a licensed homeopathic doctor. His philosophy of using all available tools, both conventional and alternative, to fight cancer made sense to us. So in the beginning of April, feeling our options here in Boston were very limited, we met as a family. Mom expressed a strong desire to live – she still had things she wanted to do. So on a Sunday afternoon the three of us boarded a plane to Reno. Monday morning the clinic called us first thing and we were in Dr. Forsythe’s office by 10:30 AM. He is the most kind and gentle man who was wonderful with Mom and very impressed by her youthful appearance and outlook. She began her IV infusions that afternoon. The clinic staff is composed of MD’s, RN’s, homeopaths, naturopaths and nutritionists.

got a phone call from my sister, Maria,
who for two years has been battling
stage IV breast cancer. “You are not
alone,” she said. “Now there are two
girls in the same family with breast
cancer.” I was devastated, how could
this be happening to both of us?
However, Maria calmed my nerves.
My sister is an extraordinary person
who has been through a lot. She is
a single mom with three beautiful
children. We have watched her lose
her hair, undergo a mastectomy, and
see her suffer through chemotherapy
and radiation. She is a fighter and
nothing gets her down. Through all
her own tribulations she finds time for
her family and friends. No matter what
Maria is going through, she takes care
of anyone in need, especially me. I am
now in remission.
